Veterans Cemetary

Construction in 2004 of a 100 acre Veterans Memorial Cemetary for 3,500 crypts for Massachusetts DCAM and the Federal Veterans Administration on land donated by a local World War IIVeteran for that purpose in 1980.
Ground was frozen 36" due to an unusual cold in the fall of 2003 and operations included a ground thaw using glycol piping, pads and high pressure conduits. The intense heat generated in the piping is similar to conventional heating by the sun and achieved a 36" ground-cover thaw in 96 hours.
